It’s important to note that early-stage kidney cancer often has no symptoms, and these signs can also be caused by less serious conditions. However, if you have risk factors such as smoking, obesity, high blood pressure, or a family history of kidney cancer, it’s crucial to be vigilant. Early detection significantly improves treatment outcomes.

Here are the key symptoms to watch for:

  1. Blood in the urine (hematuria): The most common sign, urine may appear pink, red, or cola-colored, and it can come and go.
  2. Lower back or flank pain: Persistent pain on one side of the back, below the ribs.
  3. Lump or mass: A bulge in the kidney area or side of the abdomen.
  4. Unexplained weight loss.
  5. Persistent fatigue.
  6. Loss of appetite.
  7. Fever without an obvious cause.
  8. Anemia (low red blood cell count).
  9. High blood pressure.

If you experience any of these symptoms, especially blood in the urine or a lump in the abdomen, consult your healthcare provider promptly. Early action can make a significant difference.
