Have there been any studies conducted regarding the use of albendazole to treat cancer?

I’m exploring alternative treatments for cancer and heard about albendazole being used experimentally. Have there been any scientific studies or clinical trials that demonstrate the effectiveness of albendazole in treating cancer? If so, what have the results shown?

Albendazole has shown promising anticancer effects in vitro and in vivo, as a potential repurposed drug for treating cancer, either alone or in combination with other therapies. Preclinical research demonstrated its effectiveness against colorectal cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, melanoma, breast, ovarian, and prostate cancers by inducing cell death.

A separate clinical trial also showed promising results in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma, colorectal cancer, and other cancer types where albendazole was shown to disrupt cancer cell growth mechanisms, inducing oxidative stress. Another study proved that the drug has the potential to downregulate specific genes and pathways in prostate cancer cells and increase reactive oxygen species production, causing DNA damage in cancer cells.
