Is cancer a parasite?

I've come across some information suggesting that cancer might be linked to parasites. Is there any truth to this idea, and what is the relationship between cancer and parasites, if any?

Yes, there is some truth to the idea that cancer can be linked to parasites.  The relationship between cancer and parasites is complex. Certain parasites, like liver flukes and blood flukes, can increase cancer risk by causing chronic inflammation and DNA damage, which may lead to cancers such as bile duct and bladder cancer.  On the other hand, some parasites and their byproducts have shown potential anti-cancer effects by boosting the immune system, inhibiting tumor growth, and inducing cancer cell death.  While some parasites can promote cancer, others might help fight it, and more research is needed to fully understand these mechanisms.
