AnnMarie's Breast Cancer Story: From Stage 4 to Nearly Clear Scans

Seven tumors breaking through the skin of her chest. Lesions spreading along her spine. And a renowned New York City specialist telling her there was absolutely nothing he could do.

This was the terrifying reality facing AnnMarie Faillace after her breast cancer returned as a Stage 4 breast cancer recurrence

Told that standard oncology had reached its limit, AnnMarie refused to give up, and that is when she connected with Heal Navigator. Our team helped her cut through the medical confusion, mapping out cutting-edge, science-backed pathways not yet available through standard care.

Today those seven tumors are completely gone.

When Cancer Came Back

AnnMarie was first diagnosed with stage 2 estrogen-positive, HER2-negative breast cancer in 2013.

She followed the treatment plan her doctors recommended. She underwent a lumpectomy, chemotherapy, radiation, and hormone therapy. For years afterward, everything appeared stable.

Then, nearly a decade later, another lump appeared.

After a double mastectomy, AnnMarie hoped the cancer chapter was finally behind her. Instead, new tumors began appearing beneath the skin of her chest wall.

One became two.

Two became seven.

Scans later revealed lesions on her spine, the diagnosis became stage 4 breast cancer.

“I thought if I got the double mastectomy, all the cancer would be gone,” she says.

Instead, she found herself facing a future she never expected.

Finding Heal Navigator and a Protocol

After the appointment in New York, AnnMarie knew she needed to make a decision.

The cancer was progressing. Her PET scans were getting worse. New areas of disease were appearing.

But she wasn’t sure where to go next.

She began researching treatment options, speaking with clinics, and reaching out for guidance.

That search eventually led her to Heal Navigator, where she connected with integrative oncology consultant Madhavi Parikh.

“I cried with her,” AnnMarie recalls. “My journey was very hard.”

Madhavi guided her on personalized integrative approaches and worked with her for six months.

At the same time, AnnMarie was exploring treatment options beyond her local system, consulting with Paityn Thorne, Head of Patient Care at Heal Navigator, and speaking with clinics around the world to understand what else might be possible.

And one name kept coming up: Oasis of Hope Hospital in Mexico.

Still, she hesitated.

Not because she wasn’t interested in the treatment.

Because she was afraid to leave her family.

“A 16-day trip felt like a long time for me,” she says. “I don’t travel. I don’t go anywhere.”

Then came another PET scan.

The cancer had continued progressing.

At that point, she knew she had to act.

Overcoming the Fear of Going to Mexico

The decision wasn’t made easily.

Her family was skeptical. Friends didn’t understand. The cost was significant, her three daughters launched a GoFundMe, and a local coffee shop organized a fundraiser on her behalf.

And there were safety concerns.”I almost canceled,” she admits.

She didn’t.

“I’m so glad I didn’t give in to fear,” she says. “I stepped out in faith and went.”

What she found at Oasis surprised her.

Within a few days of arriving, both AnnMarie and her husband felt settled.

“We just felt like we were home.”

The clinical environment was serious, real doctors, real oncologists, a hospital setting with a lab on site. But it was also something else: a community. Patients from around the world sharing meals, stories, and encouragement.

AnnMarie’s Treatment Protocol

At the clinic, AnnMarie received a fully customized, multi-layered treatment program tailored precisely to her unique medical history and cancer markers:

  • Advanced Dendritic Cell Vaccines: Cultivated in the hospital’s on-site laboratory using her unique profile to train her “soldier cells” to target the complete signature of the cancer.
  • Fractionated Low-Dose Chemotherapy: A targeted home protocol that dynamically blocks tumor pathways while completely preserving her energy and quality of life.
  • Targeted Nutritional Protocols: Specialized counseling and hands-on cooking classes to systematically optimize her internal biological environment.
  • Comprehensive Emotional & Spiritual Care: Daily fellowship, devotionals, and peer support networks.

“By the end of the trip, we were praying for other patients,” she says. “That became one of the most special parts of the whole experience.”

A Different Outcome: “All Seven Tumors Are Completely Gone”

The therapy is engineered to help the immune system better recognize cancer cells and mount a targeted response. AnnMarie has now received the vaccine three times, and the real-world results are undeniable.

After her first visit, scans showed all seven chest wall tumors were shrinking and nearly gone. After her second visit, they had completely disappeared.

“All seven tumors are completely gone,” she says joyfully. “People ask me how I’m doing, and I tell them I’m doing really well. I’m almost completely cancer-free.”

The open, oozing lesions on her skin have entirely healed, her physical reconstructive surgery successfully moved forward, and the residual spots on her spine are steadily fading away.

Why AnnMarie Chose Both Conventional and Integrative Care

One of the biggest misconceptions AnnMarie encountered was the idea that patients must choose one path or the other.

For her, the answer was never conventional versus integrative. It was both.

She continues working with her oncologist in New Jersey and receives hormone-suppressing treatments to reduce estrogen production. She also follows a home protocol developed by her team at Oasis of Hope Hospital.

“I wanted to combine both worlds,” she says. “That was my conviction.”

Today, her oncologist is pleased with the improvements shown on her scans.

And AnnMarie believes the willingness to stay open-minded played a critical role in her journey.

“You can take part in your healing journey,” she says. “You can be your own advocate.”

What AnnMarie Wants Other Patients to Know

Looking back on her experience, AnnMarie offers three pieces of advice for anyone facing a difficult diagnosis:

  1. Don’t Let Fear Decide: Take a breath, get a notebook, and put a reasonable time limit on your research so you don’t paralyze yourself.
  2. Do Your Homework: Ask questions, seek second opinions, and connect with people who have actually been through the treatments you are considering. “Talking to somebody who’s been there is golden,” she says.
  3. Accept Help: Don’t let pride stop you from reaching out to family, friends, or your local community for financial and emotional support.

You Were Told There Are No More Options. We've Heard That Before.

AnnMarie was told the same thing. So were Jeremy, Mia, and Karen.

There are more options than your oncologist may know about, and we can help you find them.
