Can DMSO cause cancer?

I've been using Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) for a while and recently became concerned about its safety. Can DMSO cause cancer, or are there any long-term risks associated with its use?

No, there is no evidence that DMSO causes cancer. In fact, some studies suggest DMSO may have anti-cancer properties:

DMSO has been shown in laboratory settings to inhibit the growth of cancer cells and induce apoptosis (programmed cell death) in certain types of cancer cells.

Additionally, it has demonstrated anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and free radical scavenging activities, which could theoretically help prevent cancer development and progression.

Clinical trials have also explored the use of DMSO as an adjuvant therapy to enhance the effectiveness of conventional cancer treatments like chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

DMSO is currently approved for treating specific conditions such as interstitial cystitis, but it is not approved as a cancer treatment by the FDA. Its use in cancer therapy is considered experimental, and it is essential for patients to consult healthcare professionals before considering it as part of their treatment regimen.
