Does high-dose Vitamin C IV therapy have any side effects?

I'm considering high-dose Vitamin C IV therapy for its potential health benefits, but I'm worried about safety. Does high-dose Vitamin C IV therapy have any side effects, and what should I be aware of before starting treatment?

High-dose intravenous (IV) vitamin C therapy, while generally safe when administered properly, can have potential mild side effects that need consideration.

Clinical trials have shown that adverse events with high-dose IV vitamin C are either similar to or fewer than those with a placebo in most cases. However, common side effects include pain, swelling at the injection site, nausea, and diarrhea. High doses may also increase iron absorption, potentially leading to iron overload in some patients. Additionally, there are concerns about interactions with certain medications and possible reduced effectiveness of certain chemotherapy drugs and radiation therapy. Despite these risks, severe side effects are rare and temporary.

Monitoring is advisable, especially for patients with specific conditions or taking certain medications, and consulting with a doctor before pursuing this therapy is recommended.
