This clinic is very knowledgeable with alternative care. I recommend the IV infusions.
Amazing receptionists. Quick and knowledgeable. Always do their best to accommodate apt bookings. Dr. Kozin was very knowledgeable and always ensuring my records were up to date with my oncologists tests. Treatment definitely makes me feel better and I have much more energy during the days around my IV treatments.
The receptionists could use some training regarding pricing, scheduling. I made an appt for a therapy and when I arrived I was informed they shouldn't have booked me without consulting a physician and would have to reschedule for another day. (Perhaps if they were properly trained, they could have at least contacted me and rescheduled my appt)
I met with Dr. Park today and was so nervous initially. Right when I first met Dr. Park I was instantly calm. Her demeanor was so refreshing and I felt like I could openly speak with her about my concerns. She took time to actually go over what I was experiencing and listened to the ways I felt towards my health. I was thrilled to actually have someone genuinely care for my concerns with my health. Her approach to my treatment was all geared towards working on the cause of my problems and not just prescribing medication to mask the symptoms. She was extremely knowledgable in her treatment and I left there feeling optimistic that I will see results. I'm excited to see where my treatment takes me and look forward to my follow up with Dr.Park.
Similar experience to Lisa with receptionist, but added disappointing appointment with Dr. Denault.1) Front Desk: When I called to book my initial consultation, I was told I would need my records from the Cross Cancer Institute before my meeting. I said I wasn't sure how to do that, but I would get back to them immediately. We found out that the clinic could simply fax and request them. I called back and they said, yes they COULD do this, and it usually took 24-48 hours. I thanked them. They called back a few hours later to say that I needed to fill out a consent form, which they would send by end of day. They did not send it, so I called in the morning, and they send it by mid-morning (24 hours before my appointment). I filled it out and sent it back. The next day when I arrived, they asked where my files were. I reminded them about faxing the Cross and they said they had forgotten to do it. They said I could proceed with the consultation, but I said I was not going to keep the appointment ($250) if they did not have the paperwork that they said they required, especially as my case is rather complicated. They said they can usually get it within 45 minutes (a different story from what they first told me), leaving my confidence in the whole shop a little shaken.2) Dr. Denault: So, my consultation was basically me talking about my treatment protocol and him whipping out his menu of potential treatments. He didn't seem very knowledgeable about my type of cancer, which I feel that he should have expressed at the beginning. He said he would help with my energy (dealing with side effects of chemo), healing an infection, and dealing with life after chemo. This would involve some IV Vit C, possibly misteltoe, and then some supplements. I said I would need to review everything with my oncologist (who I was meeting in a few days), and he promised to have something for me in writing the next day. He said he would do some research to look at any potential contradictions with my chemo. That was the last I heard of him -- almost 2 weeks ago. I wasn't looking to him to cure my cancer, only to make my life more bearable right now. But apparently they don't want my business. Perhaps he looked at my potential bill and I wasn't cutting the grade because I would only be purchasing his expensive Vit C IV a few times every 3 weeks rather than 3X a week? It was still going to be several thousands of dollars of treatment over the next few months. If you are planning on meeting him, I would ask to speak with him personally about his experience with your type of cancer first. I think he specializes in tumours, rather than blood cancers. I was very hopeful after our first meeting and willing to give it a shot, but totally regret the time and money that I spent there now.UPDATE: Thank you for offering to refund my initial appointment. I will email you to continue the conversation.
