Stage 4 to Cancer-Free: Rhonda’s Breast Cancer Survivor Story

When Rhonda walked into her OBGYN’s office for a routine checkup, she never imagined she’d walk out with a diagnosis of Stage 4 breast cancer.

The news was a whirlwind: a lump found, a mammogram and ultrasound confirming the worst, and a radiologist’s words echoing in her head: “Mrs. Spellman, you have cancer.”

The tumor was nearly 5 cm, and follow-up biopsies confirmed it had already spread. While her oncologist immediately scheduled chemotherapy and radiation, Rhonda felt a deep resistance in her heart. “Nobody gets to tell me what I’m going to do with my body,” she recalls.
