About Care Oncology Clinic
The Care Oncology Clinic Protocol was designed to limit the ability of cancer cells to use energy (to metabolize).
The COC Protocol treats cancer cells by starving them of energy substrates. Weakening the cells makes them less resistant to radiation and chemotherapy. The COC Protocol may also create apoptosis (or “programmed death”). Cancer cells require enormous amounts of energy to survive. The COC Protocol may lower the overall metabolic rate of the cancer cell.
The COC Protocol makes Cancer cells less able and weaker to absorb and use nutrients such as glucose and essential amino acids glutamine and arginine.
Scientists created the COC Protocol for cancer patients. This multi-pronged approach is supported by peer-reviewed studies that support the efficacy and safety of specific treatments for patients with any stage or type of cancer.
The Care Oncology Protocol: Repurposed Drugs
The COC Protocol combines low doses of four repurposed drugs to target common pathways in cancer cells. The four drugs used in the protocol are:
- Metformin: a drug used to treat diabetes that can reduce insulin levels and inhibit cancer cell growth.
- Mebendazole: an anti-parasitic drug that has been shown to have anti-cancer properties in preclinical studies.
- Atorvastatin: a cholesterol-lowering drug that can also inhibit cancer cell growth and induce cancer cell death.
- Doxycycline: an antibiotic that can reduce inflammation and inhibit the growth of blood vessels that supply nutrients to tumors.
