Cancer Center For Healing

I sought care at this clinic from November 15, 2023- Feb 1, 2024 while also seeking conventional chemotherapy at Scripps Medical Center and California Protons in San Diego for Stage 3 anal cancer. I was very disappointed in that there seemed to be very little care coordination after the initial visit with the owner MD of the clinic. A care plan was devised but I had to be self motivated to update this plan during my time there. Fortunately, I am a nurse practitioner who has worked with integrative treatments for many years and was able to manage this on my own but expressed concern that office staff were often the ones offering recommendations of treatments rather than a review of my care plan. I encouraged the to consider for safety of patients they have nurse care managers to support the patients and they said it was too costly. You can only imagine the changes that might have been needed as my chemotherapy and radiation treatments progressed.
As well, due to a very inept accounting system ( you went to a clerical office at the end of each day to check out and pay for any treatments received on that day and any balance of deposits made were carried forward for debit) I received a statement of owing $1400 that they found on an internal audit after I left. I left with a very clear 0 balance receipt when I left. When I contested this they found there own error of of overcharging me for this amount owing and reduced it to $534. I asked for this to be written off and they refused. I had hoped to advocate for this clinic but unfortunately my experience lead me to believe that they put the clinic's interest above the patient's experience which is like every other institution in medicine today.
